REV. BILL G. BATES
Associate Pastor, Peoples Church
Bill and his wife Becca both grew up in Northwest Washington, met at the age of 14, and then were married in 1975. Bill felt God’s call on his life when he was 19 and began to pursue that calling by attending Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington, where he graduated in 1975. After he and Becca were married, they became the Youth Pastors at Bethel Assembly in Sedro Woolley, Washington, the church where they met. In 1978 they moved to Spokane, Washington where they assumed the position of Youth Pastor at First Assembly of God and had their first two children, Lindsey and Dustin. They moved to Auburn, Washington in 1983 as the Associate Pastor of Calvary Temple. Here, Ryan joined the family. Their next ministry move was to Life Center in Tacoma, Washington as an Associate Pastor in charge of Singles and Adult Education. A daughter, Kacie, was born here.
The call to become a lead pastor was fulfilled in 1987 with a move to Centralia, Washington as the pastor of First Assembly of God. This ended up being their longest tenure, 26 years, and where their youngest child, Whitney, was born. Their last lead pastor position was in the city where they began, Sedro Woolley, at Inspire Church of Skagit Valley. They currently live in Salem, Oregon and are on the staff of Peoples Church as Seniors Pastor and Director of Care Ministries. Four of their children are married and all five serve on church staffs. They have six grandchildren.
